Description
Role: The Cisco Campus Library Manager oversees all aspects of daily operations on the Cisco Campus, including the supervision of staff and student workers, delivery of front-line services, and coordination of physical collections and library spaces. The manager leads the development of archives and special collections at the Cisco Campus. They also co-lead library instruction and faculty engagement in collaboration with the Abilene Library Manager and co-develop shared policies, tools, and support services that ensure consistent, high-quality access across campuses. This position contributes to institutional planning, assessment, and accreditation. A commitment to the role of the community college, as described in the College Mission, is essential.
Team: Reporting to the Dean of Digital Learning, the Cisco Library Manager works closely with the Digital Learning team and will serve as a collaborative member of the Center for Teaching and Learning once established. The Cisco and Abilene Library Managers collaboratively oversee college-wide library policies, vendor relationships, service standards, and initiatives. The manager also partners with faculty, staff, and dual credit personnel to extend equitable access to library resources and instructional support.
Responsibilities:
- Manages daily operations of the Cisco Campus Library, including supervision of staff and student workers, hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluation.
- Supervises and participates in front-desk services, including circulation, reference, and research consultations.
- Designs and delivers library instruction in collaboration with faculty, aligning sessions with the ACRL Framework and supporting student learning outcomes.
- Advises faculty on instructional resources, including Open Educational Resources (OER), copyright, and the integration of emerging tools such as generative AI.
- Ensures equitable access and support for on-campus, online, and dual credit students through tailored services, digital resources, and collaborative outreach.
- Oversees print collections and circulation at the Cisco Campus, including inventory, course reserves, and interlibrary loan; serves as campus lead for the ILS, managing access, records, and troubleshooting.
- Leads development of archives and special collections by refining collection scope and policies, coordinating processing and preservation, and expanding digitization and public access.
- Partners with the Abilene Library Manager on digital resources and subscription databases, contributing to selection, licensing, access, and usage analysis.
- Drives innovation by piloting and refining services, spaces, and digital tools suited to a residential campus, and shares effective practices across campuses.
- Collaborates with IT to manage Cisco Campus Library technology services and student computing resources, ensuring reliable access and equitable support.
- Assesses library services using surveys, usage data, and learning outcomes; contributes to strategic planning, SACSCOC compliance, and evidence-based improvement.
- Coordinates library budgeting and planning for the Cisco Campus; collaborates on collegewide library budgets, vendor relationships, and resource allocations with the Abilene Library Manager and Dean of Digital Learning; supports library-aligned grant development.
- Co-authors, maintains, and recommends library policies in collaboration with the Abilene Library Manager.
- Engages in professional development to stay current with trends in academic librarianship, applying relevant knowledge to strengthen campus services.
- Participates in institutional committees and cross-functional teams to support college initiatives and advocate for library services.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Digital Learning to support institutional goals and library services.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Master of Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited program
- At least two years of academic library work, including staff and/or student supervision, reference and research support, and library instruction or information literacy sessions
- Proficiency with integrated library systems (ILS) and print collection operations, including circulation, inventory, and reserves
- Demonstrated ability to support diverse student populations, including on-campus, online, and dual credit learners
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in a community college or teaching-focused academic library
- Working knowledge of Open Educational Resources (OER), copyright, and emerging digital technologies
- Experience developing and expanding archives or special collections, with emphasis on digitization and public access
- Active participation in professional development or library associations
