Description
Communications Strategist HunaTek is seeking a highly motivated Communications Strategist to provide support to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) component. This contingent position will provide executive level communications, messaging frameworks, and stakeholder engagement. Essential Job Functions The Communications Specialist will develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies with clearly defined target audiences, key messages, and appropriate delivery channels. Specific job duties include:- Ensure all communication materials comply with Plain Language guidelines and Section 508 accessibility standards.
- Create communication plans aligned with VER, FOD, USCIS, and DHS priorities, ensuring consistent and ongoing messaging across platforms and audiences.
- Advise Program Managers (PMs) and Product Owners (POs) on message development, audience targeting, and optimal timing and sequencing of outreach activities.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, awareness campaigns, and training sessions to promote understanding and support of key initiatives.
- Apply Prosci, Lean Agile, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies to guide organizational change and improve adoption of new processes and technologies.
- Implement continuous feedback and improvement mechanisms, including retrospectives, surveys, and FAQs, to monitor and enhance stakeholder perception and engagement.
- Design and produce high-quality communication and visual products using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite, and Mural, including infographics and other innovative media formats.
- Support change management initiatives by developing messaging that fosters awareness, acceptance, and buy-in for new projects, products, and process improvements.
- US Citizenship.
- Ability to submit to and pass DHS background investigation as well as maintain compliance with DHS and USCIS security requirements.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be detail oriented and organized.
- Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills tailored for diverse audiences.
- Prior experience in executive-level communications, messaging frameworks, stakeholder engagement, and supporting organizational change management initiatives.
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience developing and executing strategies for federal programs.
- Certifications: Prosci Change Management Certification or similar professional certification preferred.
- Direct experience supporting the DHS and/or DHS USCIS component.
