- Operations Director - Scio Township
Description
Scio Township is a general law township located in Michigan with a population of 19,000. Located in Washtenaw County and immediately adjacent to Ann Arbor, Scio Township is one of Michigan's best places to live, offering a blend of suburban-residential, agricultural, and limited commercial development.
Situated within the Huron River watershed, the Township is rich in natural beauty and environmental significance. Residents enjoy access to an abundance of walking trails, parks, and preserves, providing year-round opportunities for recreation, fitness, and connection to nature. Its location offers proximity to the University of Michigan, medical and research institutions, tech and innovation clusters in Ann Arbor, Dexter, and Southeast Michigan, and access to statewide transportation corridors. As a municipality, Scio balances growth pressures and preservation, bridging highly urbanized and rural communities.
The community is relatively affluent, well-educated, and stable, with household income levels well above county and state averages. The poverty level is modest, and educational attainment is high. The citizens are informed and engaged. Racial and ethnic diversity lends itself to an inclusive government and cultural awareness.
The Township includes a mix of residential neighborhoods, agricultural land, open space, natural preserves, and limited commercial and office corridors. While residents enjoy a peaceful suburban environment at home, there are a lot of exciting possibilities to explore in the surrounding towns.
Scio Township is well known for having great public schools. Students attend either Ann Arbor Schools or Dexter Schools, depending on where their homes lie within the Township.
