Description
The George W. Hopper Law Library at the University of Wyoming College of Law seeks a service-oriented Reference Librarian.
The University of Wyoming College of Law is a public law school situated on the plains between two mountain ranges in the southeastern corner of the state. The law school has an intimate atmosphere, and the library’s small, collaborative, and industrious team contributes to an active learning and research environment.
UW librarians have faculty status, which includes opportunities for a long-term contract, promotion, and professional development. This status carries with it ongoing responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, and service, all of which are supported by institutional mentorship that nurtures professional and personal success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing legal research support to students, faculty, staff, alumni, members of the bar, and the public
- Creating, promoting, and evaluating innovative library services and instructional materials
- Instructing within the first-year legal research course
- Presenting topical legal research presentations to law school and university classes and student groups
- Engaging in research and scholarship relevant to librarianship, legal education, substantive legal subjects, or other academic disciplines
- Training and supervising law student library assistants
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited institution; or Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited institution
- At least two years of legal research experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Record of service in a library environment
- Proven interest in or experience with teaching and instructional support
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise
- Evidence of technical competency
