POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
Full-time (40 hours per week)
First shift
Monday-Friday
Location: Positions available in Rocky Hill, CT
In the P-4 (Engineering, Scientific and Technical) bargaining unit
This position is eligible to apply for telework after successful completion of the working test period, and thereafter, in accordance with the Telework Policy. The Policy can be found here.
THE ROLE:
The MESU positions reside in the Aggregates, Concrete, and Physical Testing Section where the duties involve the day-to-day supervision and technical oversight of staff responsible for performing a wide range of materials testing, inspection, approval functions and related assignments. This includes, concrete mix design reviews, aggregate testing related to hydraulic cement concrete and aggregates, Ready-Mix Concrete Plant inspections and coordination of the Department’s aggregate qualification and approval program. These positions also oversee concrete and steel testing within the Physical Testing Section, precast/prestressed fabrication inspection, supporting construction project staff in administering the Department’s materials quality assurance program, reviewing and recommending revisions to processes to collect and analyze test results, interpreting/recommending revisions to contract specifications, and related assignments.
These positions will oversee the use of the Department’s Construction Management Systems, AASHTOWare Project, Construction and Materials (AWP) and AASHTOWare Project, SiteManager and Construction Document Management System (COMPASS) within the Section.
The duties of these positions support MESU staff and active construction project staff to ensure review and testing of materials are performed and documented adequately and the process evolves to accommodate updated needs and project delivery methods. These positions also perform other duties as required to support the Division of Construction Operations.
