Senior Financial Institution and Policy Analysts work under regular guidance to design and conduct in-depth analyses on quantitative and qualitative data. Serve as the primary contributor and may lead projects and teams and often represent the Section or Division on projects and task forces. Prepare and deliver communications including presentations and recommendations to others in the Section/Division and/or to external stakeholders. Some travel may be required.


Requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, public policy or other related field, or equivalent experience.  Requires a minimum of four years (FR/26) or five years (FR/27) of specific work experience in consumer compliance, preferably related to the banking industry. Also, must be familiar with consumer banking laws and regulations governing the operations of banks, bank holding companies, and related nonbanking activities. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and oral and written communications skills are essential. 

The analyst in the Mergers and Acquisition Section analyzes expansionary applications (e.g., bank and bank holding company mergers, acquisitions, branch requests) from banking firms from the perspective of consumer protection and community reinvestment, and provides written analyses and recommendations to management. Thus, experience in banking applications, as well as familiarity with consumer protection (including fair lending and unfair or deceptive practices) and community reinvestment (including Community Reinvestment Act) is desirable.

The preferred candidate (FR26) should have: general knowledge of financial institution operations and the supervisory process; ability to manage several assignments simultaneously on an independent basis; and ability to communicate concepts, ideas, and recommendations, both orally and in writing, to mid-level and senior level division management.

The preferred candidate (FR27) should have: comprehensive knowledge of financial institution operations and the supervisory process; enhanced skill in communicating concepts, ideas, and recommendations, both orally and in writing, to high-level division and FR System management; demonstrated sound and mature judgment as well as tact and diplomacy; and demonstrated skill in managing, leading and implementing a variety of projects.
