POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is an entry-level within the Operations and Maintenance Department.  This position works initially under immediate supervision and receives detailed instructions and training on assignments.  Through on-the-job, knowledge of the required tasks listed will be gained.    



Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs general manual labor including that related to cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds, and painting at all plant facilities.

Performs general equipment maintenance, including but not limited to routine preventative maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments on fleet vehicles, machinery, and equipment.

Accurately and timely reads and records meter readings on all District routes.

Performs and records maintenance activities and service orders/work orders to capture the details of the work performed.

Performs trench work when excavating for making taps and/or repairing water/sewer lines.

Locates utilities and other obstructions for safe repair and/or maintenance.

Performs construction of forms, mixes and pours new concrete for sidewalks, curbs, and other similar projects.

Operates hand tools, including shovels, rakes, picks, hoes, wrenches, drills, and saws.

Operates vehicles for operational purposes by driving from facility to facility to conduct maintenance duties.

Utilizes and operates computers and other technology as identified for performing daily activities.

Cleans clarifiers, bar screens, contact basin, weirs, and tanks.

Cleans piping paint and concrete at plant facilities.

Cleans floors and bathroom at plant facilities.

Performs lawn and landscape maintenance by mowing, trimming trees and branches, cleaning flowerbeds, mulching beds, clearing vines off fences, mowing ditches and all other required landscape maintenance throughout the District’s system.

Use/reference technology to ensure efficient operations.

This position is classified as essential personnel.  The individual holding this position will be required to work as required in (1) preparation for prolonged emergency operations and/or (2) during recovery from prolonged emergency operations as directed by his/her direct supervisor/manager, or the General Manager.
