Assistant Water System Manager-Treatment

Assists in all matters pertaining to Water System operation; including maintenance, repair, administration and operation of facilities.  Focus is on water treatment plant operations and raw water pump stations.

 Major Responsibilities

Responsible for operating and maintaining the facilities in strict compliance with permit limitations in a cost effective manner.
Responsible for managing satellite Water Treatment Plants and remote raw water pump stations.  Supports operation of the Wylie WTP.
Maintains effective communications with Water System personnel and NTMWD management.
Performs assigned duties, under minimal supervision, in accordance with established NTMWD policies and procedures.  Aids the Assistant Water System Manager-Transmission as needed.
Supervises Plant Operations employees to include hiring, scheduling and performance evaluation.
Assists in the preparation of the Water System’s annual budgets.
Shares Water System Manager duties with the Assistant Water System Manager-Transmission in the absence of the Water System Manager.
Participates in engineering and design studies and represents Plant Operations in construction projects.
Conducts special projects and prepares reports on plant optimization and performance studies.  Prepares the Consumption Report and various budget reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must possess knowledge of all plant processes to effectively operate facilities.
Administrative ability to plan, organize and supervise the work force and its various programs is essential.
Good public relations skills needed.
Mathematical skills to prepare budget and interpret technical data relating to the treatment process are essential.
Incident Command Level training in Risk Management protocol.
Ability to read and understand engineering designs.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science or related field.   May substitute degree with 10 years of experience and the technical knowledge that are equivalent to a 4 year degree.
Requires valid Texas Driver’s License.

Environmental Factors, Activity Levels and Equipment 

This position requires moderate physical exertion.  Duties carried out in the field and office environment. Working conditions include exposure to weather, gases and fumes. Subject to after hour emergencies.  Tools or equipment used include vehicles, computer, calculator, safety equipment, and cell phone.

Salary: $104,672.00 - $154,915.00 (DOQ)
