The City of Clarksburg, WV is the county seat for Harrison County and one of West Virginia’s historical industrial centers. Located at the north-central West Virginian crossroads of I-79 and Rt. 50, Clarksburg is an amazing city with tremendous untapped potential. Rich with history, beautiful architecture, an extensive city park system (including 15 neighborhood parks), outdoor amphitheater, the region's only water park-- Splash Zone, and one of the best performing-arts venues in the state of West Virginia-- the Robinson Grand PAC. Clarksburg was named National Small City of the Year in 2011 by the National League of Cities.
As a regional cultural center, Clarksburg is home to both the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival and the West Virginia Black Heritage Festival. Home of many historical and family-owned businesses that have called Clarksburg home for generations. Clarksburg has a large commercial center located off I-79 that is home to many of the area’s most popular retail stores and chain restaurants in Eastpointe Shopping Center and New Pointe Plaza. In the last year, Darden has chosen to open two of their most popular chains in Clarksburg: Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse. Clarksburg is also home to the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), a high-tech hub that provides a range of state of-the-art tools and services to law enforcement, national security and intelligence community partners, and the general public.
Company History
Clarksburg was formed in 1785 in the state of Virginia. The city was named for General George Rogers Clark, who gained fame on the frontier by his many explorations and expeditions against the British and Indians in the Indian Wars and the war of the American Revolution.
From the later 1870’s through the middle of the 20th century, Clarksburg was an industrial and manufacturing center, particularly in the glass and coal industries. Today, high-tech, aerospace, criminal justice and energy exploration drive the area’s economy.
Clarksburg is a city in and the county seat of Harrison County with a 2020 population census of 16,061 residents. The city offers citizens and visitors a rich mix of retail, industrial, professional and governmental services and one of the best-preserved historical downtowns in the state.
