Company Overview
The Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD) is an award-winning, nationally prominent water provider and is located in suburban Washington County, west of Portland, Oregon. Washington County is home to world renowned businesses, recreation, and vibrant communities. It is within 60 miles of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Mt. Hood National Forest to the east, and the beautiful Oregon Coast to the west. The current boundaries of the District were formed in 1991 by the merger of two separate, non-contiguous water districts – Wolf Creek and Metzger. The District is organized as a domestic water supply special district authorized under Oregon Revised Statutes 264. The District’s service area is largely residential, but also home to several large industrial customers, which have contributed significantly to the economy of the county. Nike’s World Headquarters is located in the District, as are Maxim and Intel manufacturing facilities. A light rail corridor running through the District has a special zoning overlay for high-density use. Future growth potential for TVWD is expected in this corridor in the form of housing, apartments, condominiums, and high technology commercial development. Currently, the District serves approximately 58,000 accounts and approximately 200,000 people with domestic water. The District enjoys an excellent reputation among its ratepayers and its local government partners throughout the region. TVWD is also well-known and respected at the national level through its involvement with and support for the American Water Works Association and the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies. TVWD is on the list of the 100 Best Nonprofits to work for in Oregon.
The District is governed by a five member Board of Commissioners, elected at large to overlapping four year terms. The Commissioners set policy and appoint the Chief Executive Officer, who is charged with overseeing the operations of the District.
