Relocate to New Zealand with Beca
Thinking about a move to New Zealand? Let’s start the conversation.
Making a move internationally is a big decision. Our dedicated relocation team supports you and your family through the process from initial conversations through to settling in.
Many of our people enjoy a better balance, combining meaningful work with shorter commutes and more time to experience what New Zealand has to offer, whether that is in one of our larger city offices or a regional location closer to nature.
The opportunity
We’re seeking experienced Senior Hydraulics & Fire Protection Engineers to join our Buildings team.
This opportunity is suited to engineers who are motivated by technical leadership, complex problem solving and client impact, and who are ready to take accountability for delivering high-quality building services outcomes across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Working as part of our national Hydraulics & Fire Protection team, you will play a key role in shaping design outcomes, guiding technical direction and mentoring others, while collaborating closely with colleagues and clients across New Zealand, Australia and Asia Pacific.
This is a national Expression of Interest, and we are open to discussing location based on your experience, project alignment and flexibility.
About the role
As a Senior Hydraulics & Fire Protection Engineer in our Building Services practice, you will:
Lead and deliver complex hydraulics and fire protection designs across commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects
Take ownership of projects from early planning and concept design through to detailed design and construction support
Provide technical guidance, review and verification of work produced by other engineers
Build strong, trusted relationships with clients through understanding their business drivers, risks and priorities
Contribute to effective delivery through sound judgement around programme, scope, budget and risk
Mentor and coach engineers across the discipline, supporting capability development through inclusive, supportive leadership and knowledge sharing
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Beca’s national and Asia Pacific network
About you
You're an experienced Hydraulics & Fire Protection Engineer with a background in consulting environments and experience contributing to and leading complex building services projects.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated technical expertise within hydraulics and/ or fire protection, with the confidence to act as a technical authority
- Experience leading technical delivery, coordinating workloads and verifying the work of others
- Strong construction monitoring and stakeholder engagement capability
- The ability to mentor, delegate and positively influence peers and junior team members
- Sound commercial awareness, including risk management, programme and budget considerations
- A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Professional registration or progress toward chartership is preferred
While experience across both Hydraulics and Fire Protection is ideal, we are open to candidates with deep expertise in a single discipline.
