Electrophysiology Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CCL EP) Salt Lake City, UT
The organization is seeking a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist to support electrophysiology and cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures. The role includes preparing and maintaining procedure areas, performing hemodynamic recordings with calculations and interpretation, supporting patient care needs throughout procedures, and assisting with equipment operation and quality assurance. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days, 4 10-hour shift(s); minimum 40 hours per week. On-call: Yes.
- Required Qualifications: Two years of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or electrophysiology experience (not including academic training or CVIS training); bachelors degree in a health science program from an accredited institution (degree will be verified) and/or graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing program (or graduate of an accredited diploma or associate program in health science); currently registered as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES); Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (if not currently certified, certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Preferred Qualifications: N/A
- Performs procedure room preparation and post-procedure turnaround.
- Provides emotional support for patients and their family members; provides patient education and ensures patient comfort.
- Assesses and documents patient condition, and informs the physician of deviations from normal criteria throughout the procedure.
- Applies principles of x-ray generation and safety; demonstrates correct operation of imaging equipment.
- Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech according to cath lab policies, procedures, and scope of practice documents.
- May mix and administer some medications under the direction and supervision of the physician.
- Performs point of care testing and quality assurance (QA).
- At the end of the procedure, may apply closure device, suture the sheath in place, or remove the sheath and apply pressure to obtain hemostasis.
- Provides thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events.
- Develops skills in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting all equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
- Maintains knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic anomalies, and treatment options.
- Maintains knowledge of invasive diagnostic and interventional supplies, appropriate indications and applications, and proper use and deployment techniques.
- Orients new Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist I staff; teaches, coaches, and mentors as a defined preceptor; provides staff education in Skills Day Workshops and trains staff using specialized equipment to improve procedural techniques.
- Prepares for patient status changes related to procedural events and takes immediate and appropriate action when status changes occur.
