Mammography Technologist (Mammographer) North Bergen, NJ
The organization is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform mammography examinations in accordance with ACR requirements. This role supports breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other radiologic guided procedures, while providing professional, timely imaging for adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shift; training will be 7:00AM3:30PM and 9:00AM5:00PM. 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology; Radiologic technologist licensure; must have ARRT; must have active Diagnostic Radiography License; mammography-specific certification (must obtain mammography certification within the first three months of employment); 2 years of hands-on experience with breast imaging; screening mammography; diagnostic mammography; breast positioning; breast compression techniques; patient education; breast imaging protocols; advanced breast imaging; breast ultrasound assistance; stereotactic breast biopsy; tomosynthesis (3D mammography); needle localization; breast MRI coordination; dexa scanning (sometimes).
- Preferred Qualifications: 5 years of experience is preferred.
- Perform mammography examinations and assist with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other radiologic guided procedures.
- Provide setup and cleanup for mammographic imaging associated with breast needle localization and stereotactic procedures.
- Provide immobilization devices and select appropriate technical factors based on individual patient needs; select and operate equipment for specific procedures.
- Identify patients films correctly (name, x-ray number), mark side of the patient appropriately, and initial all films.
- Develop exposed x-ray film using processing methods.
- Complete patient requisitions with technologist initials, date number, and size of films.
- Assist with quality control procedures and documentation, including phantom image, darkroom fog test, screen-film contact test, repeat analysis, fixer retention analysis, screen cleanliness, compression test, visual machine checks, processor quality control, view box and reviewing conditions, and darkroom cleanliness as delegated.
- Assist with patient education, including breast self-exam instruction and pre- and post-procedure instructions.
- Prepare cases to be imaged, including charts and films.
- Assist with compiling statistics for patient follow-ups, tracking breast localizations, patients needing biopsies, ultrasound examinations, and follow-up on positive biopsy reports.
- Document procedures regarding quality control and quality assurance for mammography in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State, and FDA.
- Document pertinent patient information in the Breast Center chart and tailor care to patient population needs (e.g., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired), including communicating with patients, parents, and/or primary caregiver(s) at an appropriate level.
