Job Summary: Pediatric Psychology (Pediatric Behavioral Health Nursing) Bangor, Maine. The Behavioral Health Nurse in a pediatric-focused inpatient setting provides traditional medical and psychiatric care while supporting specialized therapeutic programming. The role emphasizes safe patient management through effective de-escalation techniques and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights; 12-hour shifts; minimum 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current Maine state license; Basic Life Support (BLS); 1+ year of behavioral health nursing experience; de-escalation experience; physical restraints experience (chemical restraints are not used); experience with medication passes; comfort running groups; documentation experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric Behavioral Health (pediatric BH) experience.
- Additional Information: Pediatric and adult behavioral health patients may be cared for; involuntary and voluntary admissions; seclusion rooms used when necessary; occasionally substance use disorder or detoxing patients requiring medical clearance; may have the opportunity to act as charge (not required); charting system includes Cerner and medication dispensing includes Pyxis; floating may be required between adult and pediatric units; scenario-based training and MOAB (obtained on site as part of orientation) are supported through an on-site educator/trainer; code situations may require acting as a code leader and completing a debriefing form afterward; holiday work is expected in rotation.
