Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) Hood River, OR
A Sterile Processing Tech position is available in a Critical Access / Level III Trauma Center. The role supports safe, accurate reprocessing of surgical instrumentation and equipment across multiple service lines by performing sterilization, disinfection, and packaging processes. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days; 10 shift hours; minimum 40 hours per week. Weekend coverage is required Sunday only.
- Required Qualifications: 1 year of experience in acute hospital settings; proficiency with Epic charting system (specific charting experience requiredEPIC); certifications including Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CBSPD) and International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management / Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (IAHCSMM/HSPA); ability to perform high-level disinfection (HLD), operate washers/sterilizers, and follow sterilization wrapping procedures; knowledge and skills related to sets/trays assembly, proper selection of wrapping materials, biological indicators, chemical indicators, steam sterilization testing/monitoring, and immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS); capability to support equipment documentation and cleaning/processing tasks including crash carts and infusion equipment (IV pumps, PCA pumps).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience handling sterile processing needs across specialties such as Ear/Nose/Throat, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Plastics, and Urology.
- Additional Information: Float between units within the facility may be required. Commitment to working 3 of the 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, NYE, NYD) is required. Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby the contracted facility, and refusal to float may result in termination of assignment and/or forfeiture of guaranteed hours. A vehicle is required for the assignment.
