Job Summary: Echocardiogram Sonographer (Ultrasonographer Echo) Santa Fe, New Mexico. This role performs diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients. Candidates must bring their license on the first day and perform technically proficient cardiac ultrasound examinations as part of a multidisciplinary care environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days; 10 hours per shift; minimum 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; two-year allied health education program that is patient care related; A.R.D.M.S. (or CCI) registered, registry eligible, or comparable national accreditation; State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued through American Heart Association.
- Preferred Qualifications: Two years of actively doing echocardiograms.
- Responsibilities: Performs technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams; coordinates activities with interrelated departments, including scheduling exams, transporting patients, answering phone calls, and assuring billing information is accurately entered for payment; assists cardiologist while dictating exams by preparing and measuring M-modes and exchanging other pertinent information contributing to diagnosis; acts as a liaison to deliver, pick up, and distribute dictations in a timely manner; responds to patient needs during the exam; reports changes in patient condition to the physician or nurse in charge; orders echocardiography supplies; keeps exam rooms clean, neat, and supplied as needed; logs patients and exams and files patient records in the department; participates in performance improvement activities at departmental, interdepartmental, and facility-wide levels; shares responsibility for on-call coverage for echocardiography emergency exams done outside regular working hours as established by department policy; maintains quality control of equipment operation and quality of examinations; coordinates repair services as needed; stays current on events and advances in echocardiography; seeks advice and mentorship with cardiologists regarding new skills and knowledge in the field; assists with other cardiac procedures as needed.
