Ultrasonographer Echo (Cardiac Sonographer) Mankato, Minnesota
The organization is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to competently perform complete echocardiographic studies using all cardiac echo imaging modalities and procedures necessary to obtain pertinent patient data. The role includes accurate documentation of patient data and echocardiogram information using the Echo Information Management System and other required computer applications. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, MondayFriday with varying shifts from 7:00am5:00pm (rotating)
- Required Qualifications: Associate degree OR graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited sonography program; Basic Life Support (BLS); ARDMS-Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) OR CCI-Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
- Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of cardiac experience is preferred and registry eligible; minimum of one (1) year experience in adult and pediatric cardiac sonography including transesophageal and stress echo; experience with outreach services; experience with ultrasound contrast agents (Definity, Optison) and bubble studies (agitated saline); ability to scan cardiac abnormalities, quickly learn, adapt, correctly document findings, and complete scanning and reporting within 75 minutes
- Responsibilities:
- Performs echocardiograms independently using critical thinking and problem-solving to obtain comprehensive studies
- Collaborates with lead cardiac sonographers, advanced cardiac sonographers, echocardiographers, physicians, and other team members to support interpretation of echocardiographic findings
- Assists with orientation, training, and education of trainees, students, and visitors assigned to Cardiovascular Services
- Supports stress lab and stress echo lab procedures, outreach activities, and on-call practices as needed, including weekend, evening, and holiday coverage
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide quality care across patient age groups from neonate through geriatric populations
- Maintains flexibility in learning equipment, imaging specialties, and echocardiography procedures
- Applies sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques to help prevent exposure to radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments
- Demonstrates proficiency aligned with the appropriate competencies list
- Performs physical job requirements including frequent walking, standing, pushing, and pulling; reaching above shoulder level; and tolerating occasional twisting and turning
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing; maintains hearing and visual acuity appropriate for clinical duties
- Additional Information: Cardiac Sonographer availability for 24-hour call with a 30-minute response time requirement may be required.
