Under the direction of the Water Quality and Treatment Manager, the Water Treatment Supervisor provides leadership, technical expertise, and operational oversight for Park City’s advanced drinking water treatment facilities. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a highly skilled team, operate state-of-the-art treatment technologies, and play a vital role in protecting public health while delivering reliable, high-quality drinking water to a world-class mountain community.
As a front-line supervisor, the Water Treatment Supervisor combines leadership, process optimization, regulatory compliance, and hands-on operational management. The position is responsible for ensuring the production of safe, high-quality drinking water, maintaining compliance with Utah Division of Drinking Water regulations, and supporting the City's commitment to operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of advanced treatment processes and systems, including microfiltration, granular activated carbon (GAC) adsorption, manganese dioxide filtration, UV disinfection, automated chemical generation systems, SCADA controls, and plant instrumentation. The Supervisor leads daily treatment operations, monitors system performance, and implements process improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and water quality.
The Water Treatment Supervisor directly supervises a team of three to four Grade IV Water Treatment Operators, providing mentorship, training, scheduling, performance management, and professional development. This role fosters a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement while ensuring staff maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to operate complex treatment systems effectively.
This position works closely with a second Water Treatment Supervisor responsible for the City’s 7.2 MGD mine tunnel metals-removal treatment facility to coordinate treatment operations, regulatory compliance efforts, maintenance activities, emergency response planning, and system resiliency initiatives across all treatment facilities.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 7 years of experience or a combination of equivalent experience (e.g. operator certifications or pertinent courses) in operation, maintenance and repair of water treatment plants.
- Utah Operators certification: Grade IV Water Distribution and Treatment.
- Valid State CDL License.
- Within 60-minute travel time from home while on-call and for emergency response.
- Requires rotation in on-call schedule.
PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS:
- Supervisory experience.
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Direct Responsible Charge Operator Certification.
